Our Mission
The primary purpose of the Support Committee at Calverton National Cemetery (SCCNC Inc.) is to carry on programs and services to perpetuate the memory of deceased veterans and members of the U.S. Armed Forces and to comfort their survivors; to conduct programs for charitable, literary, or educational purposes, and to sponsor or participate in activities of a patriotic nature. Also, we foster and promote youth mentorship outreaches and programs as well as public communications and release of information.
The SCCNC Inc. was founded in 1978 with the expressed focus of offering ceremonies, events, programs, services at Calverton National Cemetery, 210 Princeton Road, Calverton, NY 11933. Being a Veterans Service Organization (VSO), we service and support all veterans of all service branches, whatever their period of service, their family and friends at Calverton National Cemetery. We are involved with major capital improvement projects, ongoing and/or planned at Calverton National Cemetery, such as the “Avenue of the Flags”, “Memorial Garden & Assembly Area” as well as many other beautification and improvement projects. We also conduct educational and informational outreaches increasing public awareness, offer youth mentoring programs, plus much more.
We are a New York State Corporation and a public, not for profit, charity with “tax-exempt” status under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Donations may be “tax deductible” under Section 170 of the Internal Revenue Code. Special bequests, devices and transfers of gifts may be tax deductible under Section 2055, 2106 and/or 2522 of the Internal Revenue Code. No part of the net earnings or fund-raising efforts of the SCCNC Inc. may inure to the benefit of any private office holder or individual.
