The annual Gravesite Flag Placement Day, in preparation for Memorial Day, at Calverton National Cemetery is scheduled for Saturday, May 23, 2026. Flags will be removed one week later, on Saturday, May 30th. Organizations, Families and Individuals are invited to participate in this patriotic event; however, you must register in order to participate in the event so that we know you want to come and help. We’ll also need an approximate number of volunteers that you are bringing with you so we know which section we can place you in.
You must download the Participation Form by clicking HERE and return it before the April 15 deadline.
Those that are NEW to participating in this event will be given a section assignment and all instructions for placing and removing the flags. There are no fees involved with this event; the Cemetery staff stores the 295,000 flags that we use for the decorations. Usually, the entire Cemetery is decorated in about an hour.
