25th Anniversary of 9/11 – Ceremony & Day of Service

Event Description

This year marks the 25th anniversary of the terrorist atrocities that occurred on September 11, 2001. On Saturday, September 12, 2026, the Department of Veterans Affairs National Cemetery Administration is partnering with Carry the Load to host a Patriot Day National Day of Service and Remembrance at VA national cemeteries to honor the lives tragically lost in the 9/11 attacks and the Veterans, Servicemembers, law enforcement personnel, firefighters, and other first responders who served and sacrificed for the nation on September 11, 2001, and in the years since. Volunteers should register via https://www.cem.va.gov/CEM/National-Day-of-Service/.

Calverton National Cemetery will host a ceremony on Saturday, September 12 at 9:00 a.m. in the assembly area, after which volunteers will spend a few hours helping to weed mulched planting beds. Volunteers are asked to bring work gloves and a small hand tool for pulling weeds; the cemetery will have buckets on hand. Thank you for participating in the Patriot Day National Day of Service and Remembrance in whatever way you can.
