Volunteers will return in January 10, 2026 to pick up all of the gravesite decorations in the sections that were dressed on WAA Day, December 13th. We will start at 9:00 a.m. All decorations need to be brought back to the Assembly Area parking lot and be placed in the roll-off dumpsters that will be provided by the Support Committee.
Season’s Greetings Calverton Volunteers !
The Wreath pick-up date at Calverton National Cemetery is scheduled for January 10, 2026 beginning promptly at 9:00 a.m. This is assuming that we do not have a blizzard that morning or, already have 2 feet of snow on the ground ! Please check this website for any last minute changes or weather cancellation notices.
- Volunteers should go directly to the section that they decorated on December 13th. You do not need to check in with us prior to that. Wear appropriate clothing for the weather conditions.
- Please bring vehicles that can handle the bunches of wreaths that you’ll be picking up. ( 4×4’s, Caravan-type cars, cars with trunk space, etc. )
- We may also have box trucks arranged so that we can load them with wreaths and drive them down to the dumpsters. We will also have a large tarp to help you drag the wreaths down to the street level, if you wish to use it. Some volunteers like to use a broom handle or, some kind of pole, to carry several wreaths to the roadway.
- ALL discarded wreaths, grave blankets, etc. are to be brought back to the the main Assembly Parking Field. We will have several large roll-off dumpsters in that parking lot to dispose of the wreaths. Please be prepared to make a few trips back and forth so that the entire section can be cleared. Once again, please watch your speed driving inside the Cemetery. The VA Police will be patrolling.
- You can pick up Participation Patches for your Group or Unit at the Parking Field after the sections are cleared and by submitting a Roster Form with the participants from both the Placement Day and Pick-Up Day.
